Hello friends. I’m getting ready for a busy weekend of seasonal making. Before I head off into the inky wilderness, I thought I would stop by and share a tag I made for the Tim Holtz Sizzix Chapter 3 LIVE launch. You can check out all the launch details and inspirational makes over on Tim’s blog.
This time I used half of the perspective moth die cut and took the varsity alphanumeric dies out for a test run and wow, it’s an alphanumeric must have set!
I used a #8 etcetera tag as my base. I love these tags because they are made from thickboard and you can really load them up with paints, pastes and inks. Perfect for mixed media makes. I have a how to with tips for applying the paste on a previous blog post. For this one I added some plain collage paper which I had stamped with the ledger script stamp in hickory smoke distress archival ink. I added a piece of design tape to the bottom which eventually got covered up, but it still adds texture to the background. I added vintage collage medium to give tint before layering with gesso and distress grit-paste.
I created the moth using the perspective moth thinlits die and rusted the same way as the brickwork moth in a previous blog post. The intricate detail of this wing is incredible. I use a foldaway to cut my intricate dies but if you find you’re having trouble cutting them and you’re not using a foldaway machine, I recommend using a Sizzix Chrome Plate. Details on how to use it and which machines it’s compatible with are on Sizzix website.
Let’s talk about the new varsity alphanumeric thinlits dies! WOW! I LOVE THEM! They gently emboss this beautiful stitched detail around the inner die cut. You can’t see it as clearly here as I used felt for the inner piece, but trust me, it is actually there. I used some very stiff adhesive backed felt that Tim kindly sent me. It’s like jacket lettering. So so cool!
I also used a seal outline from the thinlits set that comes with the new matchbox bigz die. I have to admit this die hasn’t been off my desk, love it. I used alphanumeric tiny type lower thinlits dies to spell out perspective.
The perspective moth is a large die and still works perfectly on smaller surfaces by simply cutting it down. Thanks for stopping by.

Love this. On the “perspective” alpha die cuts; did you heat emboss them?
so beautiful
Super tag Zoe, it’s such a beauty!
I love the alphanumeric die set, unfortunately the store I pre-ordered the die get just a part of the Sizzix releas instead of evertything they ordered and this die set wasn’t included. So now I have to wait several weeks for it will come. But when it comes, one of them is mine!
Thank you so much for sharing your great inspiration, stay safe and have a wonderful craft weekend.
I love your noth project. J wish I had him. I think I would use it more than the butterfly. Nice hob
