Hello friends. Did you meet the new member of the distress family? Salvaged Patina made it’s debut on Saturday during the LIVE launch on Tim Holtz YouTube channel. If you missed the party, you can catch up on all the fun over on Tim’s blog.
It’s no secret that I’m a total fangirl of distress and so I was very very excited to receive Salvaged Patina ahead of the launch to make some samples. The turnaround deadline was quite tight so I didn’t have time to do full step outs, but hopefully the photos and description will be helpful. Ok lets go…
Using the Perspective Butterfly (665201) thinlits set, I die cut distress watercolor cardstock. As this is an intricate die, I used a chrome plate. Sprayed the butterfly with frayed burlap and crackling campfire distress sprays and salvaged patina oxide spray. I added opaque distress grit-paste and once dry rubbed salvaged patina distress paint over the raised areas with my finger.
I added some of the new idea-ology floral linen tape to the mini thickboard etcetera tag, covering the edges of the tape with translucent distress grit-paste.
Once dry, I covered the entire tag with a layer of gesso, set aside to air dry, then painted on a layer of vintage distress collage medium and again set aside to air dry. Once completely dry, I rubbed walnut stain distress crayon over the dried translucent grit-paste and to the edges of the tag and the idea-ology floral linen tape.
I stamped the background stamp from ledger background CMS410 stamp set in hickory smoke distress archival ink to the bottom and top of the etcetera tag. I sprayed salvaged patina distress spray stain over the top and blotted with a cloth leaving a slight hint of colour which allows salvaged patina to look very vintage when washed out.
I covered an idea-ology key with gesso and added translucent distress grit-paste and once dry added salvaged patina distress paint to the raised areas. You can see the salvaged patina distress embossing glaze underneath. Using salvaged patina oxide ink underneath, it looks like lican.
I used the alphanumeric tiny type upper (664406) thinlits dies and idea-ology kraft stock stack to die cut ‘SALVAGED PATINA”. Finally adding a piece of idea-ology warm velvet trim secured with a long fastener.
Thanks for stopping by. Hope you’re having a good week and let me know if you have any questions.

This is gorgeous Zoe. Can’t wait until my order is received so I can play.
Simply stunning
Zoe, this is gorgeous. I keep thinking I don’t need another butterfly, but I might just have to cave and get this one. My Patina is on the way so I can wait to give this technique a whirl.
Thanks for posting your beautiful work
Awesome make Zoe, I love the new colour and can’t wait to play with it. I know they are on the way but I get it not earlier than May 9th, Mothers Day. Until then I have to be patient, oh my. LOL.
Thank you so much for sharing your awesome inspiration, stay safe and have a wonderful weekend.
I’d only just barely seen the beginning of Tim’s video on this gorgeous colour, and I dashed off to put in a pre-order.
I just LOVE this colour.
I love the red on your butterfly Zoe, it looks like crackling campfire. I think I need more different products in that, I only have the ink pad.
Is that the big butterfly die?
You are really brilliant at the blending Zoe. Loving this.
Hi, Zoe.
All of my favorite projects with the new color are yours! I wonder if you will also be sharing the ingredients for the paneled piece with the die cut of the world map on the top layer? I would love to know what dies, stamps, papers, etc. you used in that piece.
Thank you!
WOW! I am just getting supplies to start doing stuff like this. You are so inspirational!.
Thank you for sharing!

Zoe- is there nothing better than grit paste! Ok, maybe crackle but they go together like peas and carrots! I love, love the beautiful grunge and colors that you used on this most awesome die! Wonderful job my friend!
I am so late commenting but Blogger is giving me a hissy fit! The background you created is so beautifully textural and the butterfly is stunning. I am totally in love with Salvaged Patina… xx
This may be my new favorite color. Thanks for great ideas and using my favorite die. Your work is always inspirational and creative. Thanks so much for sharing.
