Hello friends. I am looking forward to a Christmas party on Friday night with some craft friends and we are each taking a handmade secret santa gift.
I used some of the Tim Holtz idea-ology holiday products to create this home decor piece.
I smeared opaque crackle texture paste over an etcetera tag using a palette knife and set aside to air dry, before covering with a layer of vintage distress collage medium.
Once dry, rub distress crayons into the cracks with your finger and wipe away excess with a damp cloth.
Add strips of forest collage paper using distress collage medium. The collage paper becomes transparent, so the crackle effect shows through. So cool!
Cover an idea-ology collage frame with holly collage paper. Use a water brush to trace around the holly leaves and gently pull away leaving no hard edge. This was such a great tip from Tim Holtz in his recent facebook live. Add to the collage frame using vintage distress collage medium applied with a distress brush. Blend in distress crayons, which will show up the brush strokes left by the distress brush. I love these brush marks as they add texture, but if you don’t want them, add with your finger or a soft bristled brush.
Add the cool new idea-ology icicles to the top, trimming the corners and add a story stick, colouring with distress crayon. The “Christmas” is collage paper, cool right?!
Mount the collage frame over a found relative card from the occasions set. Colour using distress markers.
Add an idea-ology Christmas word band and a half woodlands tree, sprayed with distress spray, rubbed with collage medium and dusted with glitter using the glitter duster. These half trees are flat at the back and I am personally so grateful for this product. It’s such a time saver not having to trim them yourself to use on a flat surface.
I am quite obsessed with the new idea-ology thimbles. They have a flat base so you can stand them, but I added it to the collage frame with collage medium. I used the a star from the Christmas tokens set, cutting the loop off the top and rubbing a little gilding wax over the top.
Thanks for stopping by and I hope that this has inspired you to make something for the holidays. You can see all of Tim Holtz holiday idea-ology products on Tim’s blog.
