  1. Creepy Clipboard

    2nd September, 2019 by iGirlZoe

    iGirlZoe: Tim Holtz Creepy Clipbpard

Hello friends. Things are about to get really freaky around here with Halloween making full steam ahead. Meet the bone collector… no you really wouldn’t want to!

    iGirlZoe: Tim Holtz Creepy Clipbpard
Using the new Tim Holtz halloween idea-ology, I created this creepy altered clipboard.

    iGirlZoe: Tim Holtz Creepy Clipbpard
I love crackle anything and use opaque crackle texture paste from Ranger a lot. As you will see from the photo above, the issue I have had in the past is the paste flakes off once it dries and cracks.

    iGirlZoe: Tim Holtz Creepy Clipbpard
This time I added a layer of vintage distress collage medium over the top. Some of the crackle paste flaked off and moved as I painted on the vintage medium, but I just pushed it into place with my finger. What I was left with was a really organic looking cracked background. Once dry, I rubbed distress crayons into the cracks with my finger.

    iGirlZoe: Tim Holtz Creepy Clipbpard
I grunged up the clipboard clip with distress grit-paste, distress paint and distress crayons. Added the cool skull and crossbones which has been resized this year and comes as part of the adornments halloween accents. As well as a word band from the adornements halloween words set and hardware heads covered with distress crayon, I wrapped wire around the skull and crossbones, boneyard bone and hitch fasteners that I used to attach the clip.

    iGirlZoe: Tim Holtz Creepy Clipbpard
I am a bit obsessed with the new cobweb dies from the Sizzix frightful things thinlits die set. I ran it through my sidekick with distress mixed media heavystock, sprayed with ground espresso distress spray and once dry, shaped with my fingers to give it some dimension and glued the edges allowing the center to still be popped up.

    iGirlZoe: Tim Holtz Creepy Clipbpard
The stitched thinlits dies make the best frames. I used 2 sized ovals die cut from heavystock, covered with opaque crackle texture paste. I’m pretty impatient so I used my heat tool to speed up the drying and allowed the heat to sit over parts of the paste so it bubbled. You get a really nice gnarly effect which I covered with distress crayons.

    iGirlZoe: Tim Holtz Creepy Clipbpard
I had a tiny piece of leftover idea-ology ruler ribbon which I added remnant rubs to the back of, inked, covered with a layer of vintage distress collage medium and stitched with orange thread. That gorgeous background paper is from the utterly amazing abandoned paper stash! Stock up!

    iGirlZoe: Tim Holtz Creepy Clipbpard
The new idea-ology adornment spider reminded me of the face huggers from the Alien movies. I removed the pearl and wired an idea-ology tiny vial to it. I glued some idea-0logy boneyard bones inside the vial and a label from the ephemera pack with remnant rubs added.

    iGirlZoe: Tim Holtz Creepy Clipbpard
Thanks for stopping by. Hope you find time to get your creep on…

  2. Send in the Clowns

iGirlZoe: Tim Holtz, stampers anonymous, distinguished stamps, life of the party stamps, shifter rays stencil, stitched rectangle thinlits die

Hello friends! I’m back with another card that I made using the new Halloween stamps from Tim Holtz and Stampers Anonymous.

iGirlZoe: Tim Holtz, stampers anonymous, distinguished stamps, life of the party stamps, shifter rays stencil, stitched rectangle thinlits die
The card was inspired by the new shifters ray stencil. It just whispered circus to me. The skull from the life of the party stamp set (CMS380) matched perfectly with the distinguished (CMS371) stamp set.

iGirlZoe: Tim Holtz, stampers anonymous, distinguished stamps, life of the party stamps, shifter rays stencil, stitched rectangle thinlits die
I love this sentiment, also from the life of the party stamp set (CMS380). I used the label stamp from another set but I’m not sure which, it’s one I have kicking around my desk all the time.

iGirlZoe: Tim Holtz, stampers anonymous, distinguished stamps, life of the party stamps, shifter rays stencil, stitched rectangle thinlits die
The nose I made fussy cutting a circle from the dots and circles stamp set (CMS382) stamped in distress archival ink. I am seriously in love with the bow tie stamps from the life of the party (CMS380) stamp set. Little bit of colouring heaven for me.

iGirlZoe: Tim Holtz, stampers anonymous, distinguished stamps, life of the party stamps, shifter rays stencil, stitched rectangle thinlits die
The frame is die cut from the stitched rectangle thinlits die set, covered in texture opaque crackle paste and covered in vintage collage medium and once dry, distress crayon. It looks really complicated but the paste and crayons do all the work for you. Rub the distress crayon onto your finger and rub it onto the frame for the best results.

iGirlZoe: Tim Holtz, stampers anonymous, distinguished stamps, life of the party stamps, shifter rays stencil, stitched rectangle thinlits die
Thanks for stopping by and have a great Sunday.

  3. He Was Dead Dapper

    24th August, 2019 by iGirlZoe

iGirlZoe: Tim Holtz, stampers anonymous, cadaverous stamps, distinguished stamps, life of the party stamps

Hello friends! I wanted to share this super simple card that I made and shared on instagram using some the new Halloween stamps from Tim Holtz and Stampers Anonymous.

iGirlZoe: Tim Holtz, stampers anonymous, cadaverous stamps, distinguished stamps, life of the party stamps
It’s no secret that I’m a fan of hats and the distinguished stamp set (CMS371) has been one of my favourites. The moment I saw the cadaverous stamp set (CMS378) I knew I was going to put a hat on him…

iGirlZoe: Tim Holtz, stampers anonymous, cadaverous stamps, distinguished stamps, life of the party stamps
I slid one of the bony fingers (also from the cadaverous set) into a slit I cut into the hat. His face reminds me of a creepy phantom of the opera. For anyone who knows about my ongoing fear of/battle with my sewing machine, you may notice my stitching is looking a little better. I wanted to share a couple of tips in case it helps those new or struggling stitchers. I now use a test piece of card first (thanks Paula Cheney for the tip). I also lightly score a line around the card where I’m going to stitch so I have a straight line to follow. This might not be the best way to do it and if you have any stitching tips, please share them.

iGirlZoe: Tim Holtz, stampers anonymous, cadaverous stamps, distinguished stamps, life of the party stamps
The background was a print using the alcohol lift ink (see pic below). These awesome cobwebs are from the life of the party stamp set (CMS380). I pulled the background through a distress ink wash and flicked with distress paint.

iGirlZoe: Tim Holtz, stampers anonymous, distinguished stamps, life of the party stamps, shifter rays stencil, stitched rectangle thinlits die
This is where I lifted the print from. The background was a little busy for the cobwebs, but I stashed this in my bits bag it’s a good reminder to use the alcohol lift ink technique.

    Thanks for stopping by.

  4. The Unusual Suspects

    14th August, 2019 by iGirlZoe

iGirlZoe: Tim Holtz, stampers anonymous, monster reunion stamps, weird science stamps

Hello again! Nothing for months, then 2 posts in one day! #fairweatherblogger
I had to share this super simple project that I made for the Tim Holtz Stampers Anonymous Halloween facebook LIVE. If you missed the LIVE you can see it on Tim’s blog along with the designers samples.

iGirlZoe: Tim Holtz, stampers anonymous, monster reunion stamps, weird science stamps
The moment I saw the monster reunion stamps (CMS381), I immediately thought of that famous scene from the movie ‘The Usual Suspects’… Clearly this lot were anything but ‘usual’ though! I die cut a stencil using the stencil alphabet from the gift card bag thinlits die to stencil “The Unusual Suspects!” I created this all using the sidekick, this tiny machine really has been a game changer for me, I use my dies so much more. #everyoneneedsasidekick

iGirlZoe: Tim Holtz, stampers anonymous, monster reunion stamps, weird science stamps
The scientific ruler from the weird science stamp set (CMS379) made the perfect border to begin my backdrop. I stamped it with picket fence distress ink onto black cardstock, embossed with white powder and fussy cut.

iGirlZoe: Tim Holtz, stampers anonymous, monster reunion stamps, weird science stamps
Using the media tool set and glass media mat, I drew lines across my distress mixed media heavystock background with a permanent black marker pen. Did you know that there are 2 little screws on the media tools ruler so you can adjust your ruler to line up perfectly with the grid on the glass media mat? Smart right?!

iGirlZoe: Tim Holtz, stampers anonymous, monster reunion stamps, weird science stamps
I am pretty sure this guy is the guilty party…

iGirlZoe: Tim Holtz, stampers anonymous, monster reunion stamps, weird science stamps
The monster reunion stamps were stamped with distress archival ink and watercolored with distress markers.

Thanks for stopping by and please let me know if you have any questions.

  6. She was tempted to cause a scene

    17th May, 2019 by iGirlZoe

iGirlZoe: Tim Holtz, ideaology, found relatives, floral adornments, vignette hardware, mini clipboard, distress crayon, sizzix crochet thinlits die, mixed media

Hello friends. Today I’m sharing a simple project using a mini clipboard from the Tim Holtz idea-ology range.

iGirlZoe: Tim Holtz, ideaology, found relatives, floral adornments, vignette hardware, mini clipboard, distress crayon, sizzix crochet thinlits die, mixed media
I covered the edges of the mini clipboard with opaque crackle texture paste and set aside to dry and crack.

iGirlZoe: Tim Holtz, ideaology, found relatives, floral adornments, vignette hardware, mini clipboard, distress crayon, sizzix crochet thinlits die, mixed media
I took a technique inspired by Stacy Hutchinson using plain collage paper to reinforce old book paper. I adapted it slightly and added the collage paper (shiny side down) over the front of my vintage dictionary page. I sprayed with water, antique linen and frayed burlap distress sprays and set aside to air dry. I love the mottled aged look that just happens. That’s the magic of distress!

iGirlZoe: Tim Holtz, ideaology, found relatives, floral adornments, vignette hardware, mini clipboard, distress crayon, sizzix crochet thinlits die, mixed media
I used my singer heavy duty sewing machine to sew up the side of the page, this would have been far more difficult without the reinforcement of the collage paper, so thanks again Stacy. I even managed to add a zig zag, which was a sewing level up for me! Practice practice! I tucked the nails from the idea-ology vignette findings pack into the stitching.

iGirlZoe: Tim Holtz, ideaology, found relatives, floral adornments, vignette hardware, mini clipboard, distress crayon, sizzix crochet thinlits die, mixed media
I went back and forth with the clip portion of the clipboard, I coloured it blue with distress crayon, then covered it with ground espresso distress paint, then wiped most of it off! Finally I added grit paste and a little vintage photo distress crayon. It still didn’t look right, but the addition of a little crochet die cut under the clipboard was all it needed, (thanks Kaz)!

iGirlZoe: Tim Holtz, ideaology, found relatives, floral adornments, vignette hardware, mini clipboard, distress crayon, sizzix crochet thinlits die, mixed media
The adornment florals were coloured using distress crayons and attached with distress collage medium. I added a little mercury glass stickles to the center of the flowers. I also slid a little piece of crochet die cut under the flowers.

iGirlZoe: Tim Holtz, ideaology, found relatives, floral adornments, vignette hardware, mini clipboard, distress crayon, sizzix crochet thinlits die, mixed media
The intricacy of the new crochet thinlits die kind of blows my mind. I recently got a Sizzix big shot foldaway machine and the pressure is incredible. I only had to run it through my machine twice and that was cutting distress heavystock. I’m really impressed.

iGirlZoe: Tim Holtz, ideaology, found relatives, floral adornments, vignette hardware, mini clipboard, distress crayon, sizzix crochet thinlits die, mixed media
I altered a found relatives card with distress markers and trimmed to fit underneath a frame, die cut using the stitched ovals thinlits die set.

    Thanks for stopping by.

  7. Special Delivery

    29th March, 2019 by iGirlZoe

iGirlZoe: Tim Holtz, stampers anonymous, distinguished stamps, bird feather stamps, ideaology, stamps, mixed media, card

Hello friends. Yes you guessed it, another Hat! With Spring upon us here in Copenhagen and Easter fast approaching, I was inspired to do something with eggs.

iGirlZoe: Tim Holtz, stampers anonymous, distinguished stamps, bird feather stamps, ideaology, stamps, mixed media, card
I had to back order the bird feather (CMS180) stamp set but I knew I had to have it and the hat and collar from the distinguished (CMS371) stamp set is a perfect match! One of best things about Stampers Anonymous is they never retire their stamps, so you can always go to their website and order them going back to the very beginning stamp set, CMS001.

iGirlZoe: Tim Holtz, stampers anonymous, distinguished stamps, bird feather stamps, ideaology, stamps, mixed media, card
I love that the egg comes in 2 stamps, stamping the background first and then the speckled detail over the top. Using the Tim Holtz travel stamp platform makes this simple. I used the newsprint stamp from the newsprint and type (CMS266) set in the background and layered the tangled twigs thinlits die cut over the top.

iGirlZoe: Tim Holtz, stampers anonymous, distinguished stamps, bird feather stamps, ideaology, stamps, mixed media, card
I love to layer my cards and the idea-ology classic kraft stock, sanded and layered over Tim Holtz design tape is standard for me. I love how the kraft stock palette works with my distress inks and the design tapes are so varied in their design that you can always find something that works. The idea-ology hardware heads were covered in rusty hinge distress paint and wiped away. My obsession with these hardware heads continues.

iGirlZoe: Tim Holtz, stampers anonymous, distinguished stamps, bird feather stamps, ideaology, stamps, mixed media, card
Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a great weekend.

  8. Hold Tight

    20th March, 2019 by iGirlZoe

iGirlZoe: Tim Holtz, stampers anonymous, distinguished stamps, fragments stamps, inventor 7 stamps, ideaology, assemblage gears, stamps, mixed media, card

Hello friends. I just can’t stop making with the Tim Holtz Distinguished stamp set. Every time I think I’m done, I want to make just one more. It’s craft crack!

iGirlZoe: Tim Holtz, stampers anonymous, distinguished stamps, fragments stamps, inventor 7 stamps, ideaology, assemblage gears, stamps, mixed media, card
This time I added some of the other new stamps sets to the Distinguished set to create a little background drama. Because who doesn’t love a bit of background drama?! 😉

iGirlZoe: Tim Holtz, stampers anonymous, distinguished stamps, fragments stamps, inventor 7 stamps, ideaology, assemblage gears, stamps, mixed media, card
I covered distress watercolor cardstock with hickory smoke, frayed burlap and brushed corduroy distress spray stain wash. Stamped the Fragments (CMS368) stamp set with brushed corduroy distress ink and lightly misted with water before stamping to create some wicking. I stamped half of the electric bulb stamp from the Inventor 7 (CMS374) stamp set with ground espresso distress archival ink.

iGirlZoe: Tim Holtz, stampers anonymous, distinguished stamps, fragments stamps, inventor 7 stamps, ideaology, assemblage gears, stamps, mixed media, card
The gears are from the assemblage range, I covered with grit paste and distress crayons.

iGirlZoe: Tim Holtz, stampers anonymous, distinguished stamps, fragments stamps, inventor 7 stamps, ideaology, assemblage gears, stamps, mixed media, card
I painted portions of the inventor stamp with distress crayons and a water brush and added design tape from the salvaged set to cardstock and classic kraft stock for the mounted layers.

iGirlZoe: Tim Holtz, stampers anonymous, distinguished stamps, fragments stamps, inventor 7 stamps, ideaology, assemblage gears, stamps, mixed media, card
I created the topper with a label stamp from the Label Frames (CMS264) stamp set, one of my favourite “utility” sets. I stamped newsprint from the Newsprint and Type (CMS266) set over the top with black soot distress archival ink. Again using distress crayon and a water brush to colour the hat and collar. I added filmstrip and a bird from the idea-ology milagros adornment set and some string which I thread through the finger.

iGirlZoe: Tim Holtz, stampers anonymous, distinguished stamps, fragments stamps, inventor 7 stamps, ideaology, assemblage gears, stamps, mixed media, card
Finally I added a small talk sticker which I liked. The Distinguished (CMS371) set were of course used in the making of this card. I want to get a tatoo on the inside of my left wrist and my good friend Helen suggested CMS371. You never know… LOL

Thanks for stopping by and for your kind comments here and on social media, I really appreciate it.

  9. Frequently Irreverent

    18th March, 2019 by iGirlZoe

iGirlZoe: Tim Holtz, stampers anonymous, distinguished stamps, ideaology, entomology, mixed marks, stamps, mixed media, card

Hello Friends. I’m back with more hats! I used many of the same products that I used for the indistinguishably dapper card and keeping within the same style but changing some elements.

iGirlZoe: Tim Holtz, stampers anonymous, distinguished stamps, ideaology, entomology, mixed marks, stamps, mixed media, card
I about wept with joy when I saw the March release stamps, but wasn’t entirely sure how I was going to use the Media Marks stamps. I’ve had some epic fails trying (too hard) to use them. But I thought I would give it another go and I think I may have just fallen for the scribble stamp.

iGirlZoe: Tim Holtz, stampers anonymous, distinguished stamps, ideaology, mini pins, entomology, mixed marks, stamps, media marks, card
The background is a super simple hickory smoke and frayed burlap distress spray stain wash. Add a couple of sprays to your non stick craft sheet and drag a piece of distress watercolor cardstock through and dry with a heat tool. Go back and pick up some of the ink droplets and dry again. I added the advert stamp from the distinguished (CMS371) stamp set and added a scribble from the Media Marks 1 (CMS362) set.

iGirlZoe: Tim Holtz, stampers anonymous, distinguished stamps, ideaology, entomology, mixed marks, stamps, mixed media, card
I stamped the top hat and coat from the Distinguished (CMS371) stamp set and blended in some frayed burlap distress ink with a mini blending tool. I also stamped and die cut a moth from the Entomology  (CM328) stamp set. I added twine across the card with some of the new idea-ology mini pins threaded through it.

iGirlZoe: Tim Holtz, stampers anonymous, distinguished stamps, ideaology, entomology, mixed marks, stamps, mixed media, card
I also added a small piece of twine to the top hat with some idea-ology mini pins pushed through. I LOVE this top hat, it’s definitely got the “mad hatter” about it.

iGirlZoe: Tim Holtz, stampers anonymous, distinguished stamps, ideaology, entomology, mixed marks, stamps, mixed media, card
I added a small talk snarky sticker and the bow tie from the Distinguished (CMS371) stamp set, which I’ve been waiting for the right moment to use and today was that moment. I stamped, fussy cut and layered over the coat & collar, it’s SO cute! Did I mention that I love this set?

iGirlZoe: Tim Holtz, stampers anonymous, distinguished stamps, ideaology, entomology, mixed marks, stamps, mixed media, card
I added mini pins to both sides of the twine running across the card and tucked it behind the layers, which are idea-ology classic kraft stock and cardstock covered with design tape from the salvaged set. I added some stitching with my new singer heavy duty sewing machine, but nothing too daring this time. 😉

iGirlZoe: Tim Holtz, stampers anonymous, distinguished stamps, ideaology, entomology, mixed marks, stamps, mixed media, card
Thanks for stopping by and I hope you get some creative time this week.

  10. Indistinguishably Dapper

    16th March, 2019 by iGirlZoe

iGirlZoe: Tim Holtz, stampers anonymous, distinguished stamps, ideaology, entomology, dapper, stamps, mixed media, card

Hello friends. I’ve been in a little bit of trouble this morning over a small issue of sewing through nails without safety glasses! Moving swiftly on… I am sharing a card I made using the Dapper (CMS267) and Distinguished (CMS371) stamp sets. Until Distinguished was released in January, Dapper was my favourite and most used set. The hat and coat are just my jam. Distinguished has been such a happy surprise and I have loved playing with the new wardrobe, but I had to go back and grab the background stamps from the Dapper set.

iGirlZoe: Tim Holtz, stampers anonymous, distinguished stamps, ideaology, entomology, dapper, stamps, mixed media, card
The background is distress watercolor cardstock dragged through hickory smoke and frayed burlap distress spray and dried with a heat tool. Then tapped through the droplets a second time and dried again. Using black soot distress ink and a waterbrush flick watered down ink at the card to give some darker specs. Blend in a little frayed burlap distress ink and edge with double espresso distress archival ink. The mini ink pads are perfect for edging cards as their size makes them easy to handle and you don’t fumble the ink pad across the front of your card. Hands up who’s done that?!

iGirlZoe: Tim Holtz, stampers anonymous, distinguished stamps, ideaology, entomology, dapper, stamps, mixed media, card
The hat and coat were stamped from the Distinguished (CMS371) stamp set and the moth from the Entomology (CMS328) stamp set and die cut with the matching thinlits die set. I have noticed that die cutting them makes them much stronger versus fussy cutting them. I added gears from the assemblage range to the hat and slipped a hardware head in, it fit perfectly. All grunged with little swipe from walnut stain distress crayon. The hat and coat were coloured with faded jeans and frayed burlap distress marker and ink.

iGirlZoe: Tim Holtz, stampers anonymous, distinguished stamps, ideaology, entomology, dapper, stamps, mixed media, card
Okay so this next bit is what got me into a little bit of hot water this morning thanks to my instagram post. I decided at 4am that I was going to sew nails to ruler ribbon on my singer heavy duty sewing machine! I’m still slightly dumbstruck that it worked! Sewing level up for me! I now need more idea-ology ruler ribbon and vignette hardware, because those nails are awesome!!

iGirlZoe: Tim Holtz, stampers anonymous, distinguished stamps, ideaology, entomology, dapper, stamps, mixed media, card
The gears from the Dapper (CMS267) set I stamped twice using the brushless watercolor technique from Tim Holtz’s Creative Chemistry online classes. I love referring back to techniques from it. Lifetime access, check it out. The advert stamp I made work for me by using the travel stamp platform and inking individual lines of text and stamping. I’m a bit of a straight lines freak so the stamp platform has been a total game changer for me. I used vintage photo distress archival ink and stamped twice for a bolder image on some lines, another reason to love the stamp platform.

iGirlZoe: Tim Holtz, stampers anonymous, distinguished stamps, ideaology, entomology, dapper, stamps, mixed media, card
The base layer is scrap card edged with design tape. It’s such a great way to create a layer and the design tapes go a long way.

Thanks for stopping by. Enjoy your weekend.
