Tim Holtz Vault Multi-Level Folders

Hello friends, it’s been a minute! Hope you’re all doing well and are having some creative time. It’s been a couple of months since I was at the Frankfurt Creativeworld show, demoing for Tim Holtz on the Sizzix booth and I wanted to share one of the samples I made for the booth using the new Vault Multi-Level Emossing Folders. If you’re attending the Creativation Show this weekend in Seattle, stop by the Sizzix booth and you can see this make in person.

The new Vault Multi-Level Embossing Folders are designs that were originally released as an embossing folder. The technology has come a long way and these new multi-level embossing folders give an additional layer of detail. I absolutely love having some of my favorites in the new multi-level.

The Airmail Multi-Level folder is one of my favourites and I wanted to showcase how incredible the additional layer of detail is. I embossed a piece of distress watercolor cardstock with the folder and my Switch Plus Machine, Sprayed with frayed burlap distress ink spray and spritzed with water. Once dry, I used a blending tool to add walnut stain distress ink over the raised parts of the embossed detail.

I love how Tim’s products mix and match, and one of the things I enjoy is mixing the old with the new. This is when collecting the products pays off. Using the alphanumeric dies from the Vault World Travel die set from 2024 to die cut AIRMAIL and PAR AVION (seen below). Blending distress ink into the letters and mounting them onto distress kraft heavystock to create some height. I used a blending tool with a sanding disk to gently sand before adding a swipe of distress walnut stain to lightly grunge.

I painted an etcetera pinked trim with distress paint before sanding with the blending tool with sanding disk. This gave a small shelf to add the letters and for my dapper gent stamped image to stand on.

Mix and matching again, I used the bolts from the 2025 Vault Industrial die set to create bolts for either end of the etcetera pinked trim.

This rather dapper looking gent is one of my favourites (I feel like I say that a lot but it’s hard not to with Tim’s products). He’s from the Paris Memoir CMS159 stamp set, (linked below). There is another set with a smaller version of him (again linked below) but for this make I needed the larger image. Stamped in distress archival ink and watercoloured with distress inks.

He needed something to rest on and this walking stick from the Gentlemen die set was a perfect fit. The handle is die cut from alcohol ink foil and the stick from distress kraft heavystock, painted with black soot distress paint and once dry, lightly sanded at the edges. Again, digging into your collection for older dies and stamps is such a fun way to create.

I found that the postage stamp from the Paris to London CMS160 stamp set is sized almost perfectly for the postage stamp die from the new 2025 Vault Noteworthy die set. I stamped several times with distress archival ink and wrapped around the edges of the etcetera facade I used. To make it easier to wrap around the facade, I peeled away a back layer of the distress watercolour cardstock I had stamped and die cut. I glued them with distress collage medium.

I used another of the stamped die cut postage stamps to add to the etcetera small tag, which I covered with a sheet of paper from Tim’s idea-ology backdrops paper packs.

I’ve been obsessed with these tiny planes from the 2024 Vault World travel die set since they launched and I added a few to my tag which I coloured with the same distress ink colours as the AIRMAIL and PAR AVION letters. I mounted them with 3D foam, which comes in black and in 2 different heights (linked below). I used a paintbrush to add a little distress ink and water around the planes to create a drop shadow.

Finally, I added, what I refer to as the PAN AM logo to the top of the arched etcetera facade from the 2025 Vault Noteworthy die set. I’m so happy Tim brought this die back from the vault, along with the other die sets and these cool Vault Multi-Level Embossing Folders.

Thanks for stopping by.
