  1. Lumberjack with a Hat

    10th November, 2022 by iGirlZoe

igirlzoe: tim holtz lumberjack plaid distress ranger ink

I wanted to share another make from the Tim Holtz LIVE launch of the new Distress color, Lumberjack Plaid. It gets busy during the holiday season and sometimes you need a quick gift solution. You could certainly adapt this into a gift card wallet, but for a slightly fancier presentation, a gift card box is a great way to gift. This gift card box couldn’t have been easier to make.

igirlzoe: tim holtz lumberjack plaid distress ranger ink
Of course I had to include a little Hat make and Tim kindly added an awesome matching plaid gift card to the inside of the box that he has in his very cool collection of Starbucks cards. You can see this gift box and other makes on the replay over on Tim’s blog.

igirlzoe: tim holtz lumberjack plaid distress ranger ink
Cut a box from Distress Kraft Heavystock using the Curio Box Bigz XL die and spray with Lumberjack Plaid Distress Spray Stain and dry with a heat tool.

igirlzoe: tim holtz lumberjack plaid distress ranger ink
I used some of the new idea-ology Christmas Linen Tape to cover the sides of the curio box base, also cut from Distress Kraft Heavystock. The tape fits perfectly and has the added bonus of holding the box together, making assembly quick and easy.

igirlzoe: tim holtz lumberjack plaid distress ranger ink
I wasn’t kidding when I said I was obsessed with the box label stamp from the new Department Store (CMS458) stamp set! I stamped in Ground Espresso Distress Archival Ink and fussy cut.

I stamped and fussy cut stamped images from the Vintage Holidays (CMS423) stamp set. The “Special Delivery” stamp was stamped with Lumberjack Plaid Distress Ink and added on top.

The background is Lumberjack Plaid Distress Ink blended into Distress Watercolor Cardstock stamped with the plaid stamp from the Plaid and Nordic (CMS243) stamp set in Black Soot Distress Archival Ink.

igirlzoe: tim holtz lumberjack plaid distress ranger ink
Once the box topper had been added, I assembled the box and added strips stamped onto Distress Watercolor Cardstock with Black Soot Distress Archival Ink with a stamp from the Vintage Holidays (CMS423) stamp set. This has to be one of my favorite Christmas holiday sets and one I pull out each year. I used Distress Collage Medium to glue the strips onto the sides and once dry, trimmed the excess off and inked with Walnut Stain Distress Ink to hide the joins.

igirlzoe: tim holtz lumberjack plaid distress ranger ink
The top hat and coat stamped in Black Soot Distress Archival Ink with the Distinguished (CMS378) stamp set, were raised with a piece of black fun foam. I used Lumberjack Plaid Distress Ink to watercolor the hat band and tie.

  2. Don’t Rain On My Plaid

    9th November, 2022 by iGirlZoe

igirlzoe: tim holtz lumberjack plaid distress ranger ink

Hello friends, hope your week is going well. I’m sharing another of my makes shown during the Tim Holtz LIVE launch of his New Distress, Lumberjack Plaid. You can see the replay and makes over on Tim’s blog. Make sure you watch to the end! 😉

igirlzoe: tim holtz lumberjack plaid distress ranger ink
I was inspired by my good friend Vicki Evans clever alteration of the Woodland Santa into a Lumberjack on it’s release and she graciously allowed me to use her idea and didn’t ask any questions. You can see her awesome make on instagram. I started with an idea-ology vignette tray and added strips of distress watercolor cardstock, embossed with the Lumber 3D folder and blended with walnut stain and ground espresso distress ink.

igirlzoe: tim holtz lumberjack plaid distress ranger ink
Ok so a funny story about this umbrella… I’ve been mis-pronouncing “plaid” for a while now and when I began making this I was going to add some words above the “PLAID” that I made with the Alphanumeric Varsity dies.

“Don’t rain on my PLAID”… my sweet husband (trying not to laugh when I told him my plan) said “it’s not pronounced “PLAYED” it’s pronounced “PLAD” … “Don’t rain on my PLAD” didn’t quite work as well! After some choice words that rhyme with “LUCK” I decided to just go with it and omit the “don’t rain on my…”

igirlzoe: tim holtz lumberjack plaid distress ranger ink
Without my mistake, I wouldn’t have used the umbrella which I love. It’s from The Gent thinlits die set. I blended in Lumberjack Plaid distress ink and stamped with black soot distress archival ink using a stamp from the Plaid and Nordic (CMS243) Stamp set. I overlaid the umbrella outline which was stained with ground espresso distress ink.

I used adhesive foam under the center of the umbrella and distress collage medium at the very edges to make the umbrella curved.

igirlzoe: tim holtz lumberjack plaid distress ranger ink
To decorate the outside of the vignette tray, I added strips of distress watercolor cardstock with Lumberjack Plaid distress ink blended in and stamped with the same plaid stamps as on the umbrella. I sanded lightly to give a distressed look.

igirlzoe: tim holtz lumberjack plaid distress ranger ink
I altered the Woodland Santa die into a lumberjack stamping his shirt with the plaid stamp and adding Lumberjack Plaid distress ink to his shirt and hat. The rest of him was colored using distress inks in faded jeans, ground espresso, walnut stain and black soot. The buckle and shirt buttons were cut from idea-ology metallic kraftstock. Thanks again to Vicki Evans for her cool inspiration and willingness to share.

igirlzoe: tim holtz lumberjack plaid distress ranger ink
I added Lumberjack Plaid distress paint to an idea-ology lantern. I’m not going to lie, it was pretty bright so I dry brushed ground espresso distress paint over the top to tone it down and make it dirty. When almost dry, I rubbed with my finger to remove parts of the paint. I thread a set of idea-ology tiny lights through the back of the idea-0logy vignette tray and up through the wood slice into the lantern. I cut all but 3 lights off the tiny lights set and twisted them to fit inside the lantern. The lantern sits perfectly on the idea-ology wood slices.

  3. Tivoli Guards

    4th November, 2022 by iGirlZoe

igirlzoe: tim holtz lumberjack plaid distress ranger ink

Hello friends and happy Friday! It’s been a long and busy week for me and I’m looking forward to a creative weekend of making. Hopefully you’re starting to receive your new distress color Lumberjack Plaid and are enjoying getting acquainted with the gorgeous rich red. If you want to watch the replay of the LIVE launch and the maker inspiration, head over to Tim’s blog.

igirlzoe: tim holtz lumberjack plaid distress ranger ink
I live pretty close to Tivoli Gardens, an amusement park in the center of Copenhagen city. I’ve been many times, we take out of town visitors there and have even had some special friends join us via facetime.

igirlzoe: tim holtz lumberjack plaid distress ranger ink
When Tim released the Harvey thinlits die set I immediately thought of the Tivoli Guards dressed as Nutcrackers. Little did I know that there was the perfect color coming to make them, so when I saw Lumberjack Plaid I knew that I wanted to make this piece.

igirlzoe: tim holtz lumberjack plaid distress ranger ink
The new colorize dies are so easy to build and there are resources online to show you how to put these together. I Love the depth of the Lumberjack Plaid on the guards overcoats. Of course I had to make them a little grungy, because that’s what I like, but you could easily block the color. I used idea-ology metallic kraftstock to cut the chin straps, feather medallions and the stripes on one of the guards hats. I decided to use a single feather on 2 of the guards, I love having lots of options with this die set.

igirlzoe: tim holtz lumberjack plaid distress ranger ink
I created a platform for the guards to stand on using the Etcetera Trims and the decorative trims die to cut a matching trim which I embossed with the Lumber 3D folder and inked. I added an extra piece of card to make the trim deeper to fit “Tivoli” which I cut using the (retired) Alphanumeric Marquee die and the Alphanumeric 1″ Tall die set. The base alphanumeric letters are cut from idea-ology metallic kraftstock and the marquee letters cut from distress watercolor cardstock and sprayed with Lumberjack Plaid distress spray stain. I love the way the metallic peeps through the holes in the marquee letters and makes the Lumberjack Plaid distress ink pop!

igirlzoe: tim holtz lumberjack plaid distress ranger ink
I tucked a couple of pieces of holly underneath the ledge by die cutting distress watercolor cardstock with the Seasonal Sketch thinlits dies. I used the Lumberjack Plaid ink for the base of the berries and the oxide ink for the top outline die cut. I love the contrast these 2 mediums of Lumberjack Plaid give and that it works so well with grungier colors of the Distress palette.

igirlzoe: tim holtz lumberjack plaid distress ranger ink
The background is a piece of distress watercolor cardstock, cut to fit the mini etcetera tag. I used the sheet music stamp from the Department Store stamp set to stamp several times in distress archival ink. I stitched the outside of the tag with my sewing machine and glued to the tag using distress collage medium.

igirlzoe: tim holtz lumberjack plaid distress ranger ink
Finally, I added the bow from the new Yuletide Colorize thinlits die set which was stained in Lumberjack Plaid distress OG and oxide inks. By adding a little light colored distress paint to the die cut first, it creates a resist for a nice grungy look. I blended in a little walnut stain distress ink on top.

igirlzoe: tim holtz lumberjack plaid distress ranger ink
This would be easily adaptable to make a card, gift card or gift box topper and of course you could change the theme to Disney, London or anything you can dream up… I hope this has inspired you to create.

Thanks for stopping by and let me know if you have any questions.

  4. Bowtied For Lumberjack

    3rd November, 2022 by iGirlZoe

igirlzoe: tim holtz lumberjack plaid distress ranger ink

Hello friends. I’m sharing another card I made for the Tim Holtz LIVE launch of the newest member of the Distress family, Lumberjack Plaid. You can see the makes and watch the LIVE replay over on Tim’s blog.

igirlzoe: tim holtz lumberjack plaid distress ranger ink
The new Bowtied colorize die is a perfect match for Lumberjack Plaid and pops over the top of the awesome new Tree Rings 3D folder which I embossed onto distress kraft heavystock and added walnut stain and ground espresso distress inks over the raised areas.

igirlzoe: tim holtz lumberjack plaid distress ranger ink
I cut the Bowtied Colorize thinlits die from distress watercolor cardstock and swiped through a paint wash of (retired) pumice stone distress paint. I used Lumberjack Plaid oxide ink pad for the lighter layer and the original ink pad for the darker layers of the colorize. Adding a little ground espresso distress ink to the edges to darken.

igirlzoe: tim holtz lumberjack plaid distress ranger ink
My obsession with the box label from the Department Store CMS458 stamp set continues. I stamped it onto copier paper in distress archival ink and added a stamped seal in Lumberjack Plaid distress ink with a stamp from the Holiday Postmarks CMS323 set; gluing it over the bottom of the bow.

Thanks for stopping by and let me know if you have any questions.

  5. Lumberjack Plaid

    2nd November, 2022 by iGirlZoe

igirlzoe: tim holtz lumberjack plaid distress ranger ink

Hello friends. Did you meet the newest member of the Tim Holtz Distress family, Lumberjack Plaid?! I think you’ll agree that Lumberjack Plaid is a real nice good honest red! LOL You can get a formal introduction and see the makes and LIVE replay over on Tim’s blog.

igirlzoe: tim holtz lumberjack plaid distress ranger ink
I absolutely love the depth of the color from Lumberjack Plaid and it’s so easy to grunge up by adding a little brown from the distress palette. It’s an immediate favorite for this grunge lover.

igirlzoe: tim holtz lumberjack plaid distress ranger ink
I die cut the lantern and candles from Candlelight thinlits die set. I love this set and although I’ve cut the candles many times, it was the first time I had cut the lantern! I know right?! I used distress watercolor cardstock and Lumberjack Plaid spray stain and ink pad.

igirlzoe: tim holtz lumberjack plaid distress ranger ink
I paired it with the new Modern Festive die set, which I was determined to make vintage! 😉

igirlzoe: tim holtz lumberjack plaid distress ranger ink
The background is a stamp called Sparkles and Christmas CMS324 which I brayered with distress archival ink and stamped without using a grid block to give a more weathered look. The sparkles are from the Wise Men thinlits die set.

igirlzoe: tim holtz lumberjack plaid distress ranger ink
I added a stamped sentiment from the new Holiday Sketchbook CMS456 stamp set.
Thanks for stopping by and let me know if you have any questions.

  6. Seasonal Distress

    10th October, 2022 by iGirlZoe

igirlzoe: tim holtz ranger seasonal distress sizzix modern festive create and craft tv pillow box

Hello friends, hope you had a wonderful weekend. Did you see the Tim Holtz LIVE launch on Saturday? Tim showcased the new Ranger Seasonal Distress products. If you want to see the fantastic demo with so many tips and techniques, it’s over on Tim’s blog.

igirlzoe: tim holtz ranger seasonal distress sizzix modern festive create and craft tv pillow box
I am properly obsessed with the new Distress Gray Woodgrain Cardstock and used it to make a small pillow box ready to fill with some treats to gift. I’m equally a smitten kitten for the Distress Snowfall Grit-Paste and since discovering how vintage the Distress Mica Stains can look, I’m regretting not stocking up on last years colors. Fortunately next season, last seasons palette will return and in the meantime I stocked up, but I saved you some. 😉

igirlzoe: tim holtz ranger seasonal distress sizzix modern festive create and craft tv pillow box
I used this awesome “Tim Holtz Back From The Vault” die set, “Pillow Box & Tags” to create the pillow box.

PLEASE NOTE: This die set is ONLY available from Create and Craft TV and go on sale on Tuesday 11th October at 4PM+ 8PM UK and Wednesday 12th October at 8AM UK, while stocks last. They ship international, please see website for details.

igirlzoe: tim holtz ranger seasonal distress sizzix modern festive create and craft tv pillow box
I die cut the pillow boxes from Distress Gray Woodgrain Craftstock, lightly blended walnut stain distress ink over the top and once dry, added a strip of scor-tape to the connecting edges ready to assemble.

igirlzoe: tim holtz ranger seasonal distress sizzix modern festive create and craft tv pillow box
I die cut distress watercolor cardstock with the new Modern Festive dies.

igirlzoe: tim holtz ranger seasonal distress sizzix modern festive create and craft tv pillow box
I spritzed the die cuts with the new Fresh Balsam Distress Mica Stain, dried, sanded and blended in walnut stain distress ink.

igirlzoe: tim holtz ranger seasonal distress sizzix modern festive create and craft tv pillow box
I used dies from the AWESOME Chapter 3 dies by Tim Holtz. The tag is from the Collector set and the numbers are from the Specimen set. I absolutely love having these die sets in my collection and have them permanently in my die cart because I’m constantly reaching for them. I cut the tag from Distress Gray Woodgrain Cardstock.

igirlzoe: tim holtz ranger seasonal distress sizzix modern festive create and craft tv pillow box
I inked up the Festive Modern die cuts and once dry, added some of the new Distress Snowfall Grit-Paste. This is the perfect amount of sparkle for this glitter hating grunge lover!

igirlzoe: tim holtz ranger seasonal distress sizzix modern festive create and craft tv pillow box
I added some of the idea-ology Christmas Droplets which I covered in mushroom alcohol ink.

NOTE: If you add alcohol ink to these droplets and rub, it will remove the base color. I happen to like this because it makes it look imperfect and grungier, but if you don’t want that, just drop the alcohol ink over the top and walk away.

igirlzoe: tim holtz ranger seasonal distress sizzix modern festive create and craft tv pillow box
I added some string around the box which I tied the tiny 25 tag to.

igirlzoe: tim holtz ranger seasonal distress sizzix modern festive create and craft tv pillow box
Don’t be fooled by the name Modern Festive or the glimmer of the Seasonal Mica Stain and the sparkle of Snowfall Grit-Paste; all can be vintage grunge. These tiny boxes were so quick to make and you could add the greenery to a gift box, tag, card, to give a few suggestions.

Thanks for stopping by and let me know if you have any questions.

  7. Witches Potting Shed Part 1

    4th October, 2022 by iGirlZoe

igirlzoe: tim holtz idea-ology halloween witches

Hello friends. With Halloween on the horizon, have you stocked up on your Tim Holtz Halloween idea-ology? I like to make for the dark side all year round, so I’ve stocked up on seasonal products to last me… Some people collect purses and shoes, others collect cauldrons, skulls and pumpkins! 😉

To see all the Halloween idea-ology products and incredible makes, head over to Tim’s blog for the LIVE replay.

igirlzoe: tim holtz idea-ology halloween witches
Today I’m sharing part 1 of the witches potting shed made for the LIVE launch. You can see the introduction and close ups in my first post. Let’s get into the details…

    BASES + BACK DOOR

igirlzoe: tim holtz idea-ology halloween witches
To start with I covered the smaller vignette tray from the idea-ology vignette tray set with paper from halloween backdrops. I used the halloween design tape to cover 3 sides of the vignette and used the halloween backdrop paper to cover the front.

igirlzoe: tim holtz idea-ology halloween witches
I sanded and inked parts of the background for extra grunge and decided on the placement of potting shed and drilled 2 holes in the base with my Dremel micro. You can use a hand drill or any drill with a small drill bit or an awl to do this. I like using a Dremel micro as it’s small and light weight.

PLEASE WEAR PROTECTIVE EYEWEAR WHEN USING POWER TOOLS!

igirlzoe: tim holtz idea-ology halloween witches
Cover the back of the largest vignette from the vignette box set with idea-ology halloween worn wallpaper. Adding distress opaque crackle paste to the inside sides. I covered the inside top of the vignette with a generous layer of distress collage medium and pushed moss into place and allowed to dry. Some of the moss will fall off but you can add more if you need to. Remember, perfect doesn’t look natural, moss in nature is a hot mess.

igirlzoe: tim holtz idea-ology halloween witches
Line up your vignette box over the vignette tray base and use a marker or pokey tool up through the holes in the vignette tray to mark the underside of the vignette box. If you don’t care about the exact placement of the holes you can eyeball it.

igirlzoe: tim holtz idea-ology halloween witches
The placement of the holes in the back of the vignette box are more important as they need to sit underneath where the door frame is going to be. I used chalk to mark out where the door would be.

igirlzoe: tim holtz idea-ology halloween witches
I used 2 sets of tiny lights, a set of everyday tiny lights (white) and a set of Halloween tiny lights (green), thread up through the underside of the vignette tray. The battery packs are stuck to the underside of the vignette tray out of sight. I work with the tiny lights on as it’s easier to see positioning.

igirlzoe: tim holtz idea-ology halloween witches
I cut a piece of paper from the backdrops halloween collection into strips and covered the back and sides of the vignette box. You can see here where I marked a chalk line of where the windows were going to be versus the base of the door. The tiny lights have wire in them so it’s easy to bunch them together and they hold their place. I added a tiny dot of hot glue at the top and bottoms to hold them in place. DO NOT get hot glue on the bulbs as it can short the lights out.

igirlzoe: tim holtz idea-ology halloween witches
Taking the door from the baseboards halloween set (pictured above)…

igirlzoe: tim holtz idea-ology halloween witches
I flipped it over and added a piece of vellum, a paper doll and a sheet of transparency (in that order) over the window. I built a frame using the straight trims from the etcetera bat and cobweb trims from stampers anonymous. It needs to be deep enough for the lights to sit behind the door and back light the cobweb transparency.

igirlzoe: tim holtz idea-ology halloween witches
I glued the door to the back of the vignette box with distress collage medium and added moss around the edges.

igirlzoe: tim holtz idea-ology halloween witches
So creepy right?! Trapped in the doorway forever…

igirlzoe: tim holtz idea-ology halloween witches
Thanks for stopping by, I hope you found this post helpful and it has inspired you to make. Let me know if you have any questions.

Back as soon as I can with the next installment in the witches potting shed…

  8. Thankful

    3rd October, 2022 by iGirlZoe

igirlzoe: tim holtz sizzix halloween pumpkin duo colorize feathery acorns 3D

Hello friends, hope you’re doing well and enjoyed Tim Holtz’s Sizzix Christmas LIVE launch at the weekend. All of the makes were incredible and it got me excited to make for Christmas, wait… it’s October!

igirlzoe: tim holtz sizzix halloween pumpkin duo colorize feathery acorns 3D
As a maker I live in a constant state of seasonal confusion but with the cooler weather arriving here in Denmark and pumpkins on my mind I thought I would share some extra photos and a mini blog post for a make I did for the Tim Holtz Sizzix Halloween LIVE.

igirlzoe: tim holtz sizzix halloween pumpkin duo colorize feathery acorns 3D
I love love love the new Pumpkin Duo Colorize dies, they are so easy to put together. I went for a more fall themed tag as I know not everyone loves Halloween or the dark side as much as I do!

igirlzoe: tim holtz sizzix halloween pumpkin duo colorize feathery acorns 3D
I started with an Etcetera Thickboard Tag in the mini size. Covered with a piece of idea-ology Halloween Worn Wallpaper. You can see the index tab and numbers from the Chapter 3 sets tucked under the background which I embossed with the new Acorns 3D embossing folder. I covered with a wash of distress ink, dried, covered with collage medium and set aside to air dry. I used distress crayons to color the leaves. I added a final wash of watered down white gesso to the spaces between the acorns and leaves.

igirlzoe: tim holtz sizzix halloween pumpkin duo colorize feathery acorns 3D
I wanted to add a word across the pumpkins without obscuring them too much because they’re so lovely. I didn’t have a suitable sentiment so I crafted one! I used sentiments Thanks + Beautiful from (retired) Handwritten Celebrate and Handwritten Love sets. I cut and spliced them together. Hopefully many of you will have these sets in your stash or something like them.

igirlzoe: tim holtz sizzix halloween pumpkin duo colorize feathery acorns 3D
I couldn’t have it too pretty pretty, so I added a crow which I die cut from last years Vault Series Halloween dies from idea-ology black kraft stock and sanded it back a little at the edges. I tucked in a little idea-ology mummy cloth.

igirlzoe: tim holtz sizzix halloween pumpkin duo colorize feathery acorns 3D
Finally I added a feather for it to sit on, die cut from idea-ology black kraft stock. The Feathery die set is going to be one for all year use so I’m very thankful to have this set too.

Thanks for stopping by and let me know if you have any questions.

  9. Christmas Cutouts

    2nd October, 2022 by iGirlZoe

igirlzoe: tim holtz sizzix christmas tree ring 3D christmas cutouts layered tags curio box

Hello friends, hope you’re having a nice weekend. I’ve been humming Christmas tunes all day, probably because of the amazing Tim Holtz Sizzix Christmas LIVE launch yesterday. You can watch the replay and see all of the incredible makes over on Tim’s blog.

igirlzoe: tim holtz sizzix christmas tree ring 3D christmas cutouts layered tags curio box
I loved the Christmas cutouts set as soon as I saw it. I love the tiny scene you can build. I decided to make a little box that can be filled with gift tags that you could have on hand during the Christmas season or gift to someone who loves handmade, but may not be a maker themselves. And of course you can make them pretty pretty or grungy.

igirlzoe: tim holtz sizzix christmas tree ring 3D christmas cutouts layered tags curio box
I used the curio box bigz XL die which is still available and linked at the end of the post. I cut from distress kraft heavystock to give a nice sturdy base and top. I secured the word dies from the Christmas Cutouts set with tape and ran it through my machine.

igirlzoe: tim holtz sizzix christmas tree ring 3D christmas cutouts layered tags curio box
I covered the sides with candied apple distress paint mixed with a little ground espresso distress paint.

igirlzoe: tim holtz sizzix christmas tree ring 3D christmas cutouts layered tags curio box
I cut a second curio box top from idea-ology backdrops christmas paper to line the inside of the top.

igirlzoe: tim holtz sizzix christmas tree ring 3D christmas cutouts layered tags curio box
I cut a piece from the same paper to line the base of the box.

igirlzoe: tim holtz sizzix christmas tree ring 3D christmas cutouts layered tags curio box
The inside lining of the curio box gives you a base to glue in letters so they’re inset.

igirlzoe: tim holtz sizzix christmas tree ring 3D christmas cutouts layered tags curio box
I cut them from the new seasonal woodgrain black cardstock. I set aside the outer piece to make a tag with later. I cut the center shapes from the seasonal woodgrain white cardstock and glued them into place with distress collage medium.

igirlzoe: tim holtz sizzix christmas tree ring 3D christmas cutouts layered tags curio box
For the top of the box I embossed a piece of distress kraft heavystock with the new Tree Rings 3D embossing folder. I simply added gathered twigs distress ink to the top of the embossed tree ring.

igirlzoe: tim holtz sizzix christmas tree ring 3D christmas cutouts layered tags curio box
I added the embossed piece to the top of the box and decorated with some of the cutouts inked with distress ink. The houses were cut from idea-ology metallic kraftstock, sanded and inked with walnut stain distress ink.

    Box Side Panels
igirlzoe: tim holtz sizzix christmas tree ring 3D christmas cutouts layered tags curio box
igirlzoe: tim holtz sizzix christmas tree ring 3D christmas cutouts layered tags curio box
igirlzoe: tim holtz sizzix christmas tree ring 3D christmas cutouts layered tags curio box
igirlzoe: tim holtz sizzix christmas tree ring 3D christmas cutouts layered tags curio box

igirlzoe: tim holtz sizzix christmas tree ring 3D christmas cutouts layered tags curio box
I made some little gift tags to fill the box with. I cut the mini tree ring (twice) using the bigz die, still available and linked at the end of the post. I carefully cut away the inside with a craft knife and embossed the center piece with the Tree Ring 3D embossing folder.

igirlzoe: tim holtz sizzix christmas tree ring 3D christmas cutouts layered tags curio box
I used the complete piece as a base and reassembled the other pieces on top. You could slip a piece of ribbon between if you wished. I punched a small hole in one side and added an idea-ology o ring to thread onto ribbon.

I should add that the mini tree ring bigz die comes with an embossing folder to specifically fit the tree ring. However, the 3D embossing folders are so incredibly detailed, it was worth the extra effort to use the new Tree Ring 3D embossing folder.

igirlzoe: tim holtz sizzix christmas tree ring 3D christmas cutouts layered tags curio box
I used leftover idea-ology metallic kraftstock from the cutout houses and backed the PEACE outer cut from seasonal woodgrain black cardstock used for the inserts on the side of the box top. I used the new Layered Tags and cards cut from the postale chapter 3 die set to create mini gift tags and cards.

igirlzoe: tim holtz sizzix christmas tree ring 3D christmas cutouts layered tags curio box
I will be sharing more gift cards/tags later in the season.

Thanks for stopping by and let me know if you have any questions.
